Youth accused of stealing large amount of jewelry

A 16-year-old male subject is currently incarcerated at the Chautauqua County Jail after police say he allegedly stole a large amount of jewelry.

According to the Dunkirk Police Department, on July 17 around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a West Fourth Street address for a report of a possible burglary. After an investigation, it was discovered the residence had been entered and a large amount of jewelry had been taken.

Through the continued investigation by the detective bureau and the patrol division, thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was recovered and culminated in the arrest of the male youth. He was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

On Thursday, the suspect was arraigned in front of a judge, who set bail in the amount of $20,000 cash or $40,000 property.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department

PERRYSBURG – William F. Gearman Jr., 36, of Route 39 was charged on an arrest warrant on June 19. Gearman was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation on an arrest warrant out of Perrysburg Town Court.

Gearman was arraigned in Perrysburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance to appear back in court.

  • NORTH HARMONY – A 20-year-old Dunkirk woman faces additional charges for marijuana possession after being taken into custody on an unrelated warrant.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies on patrol on Route 394 in the town of North Harmony observed a vehicle to allegedly be operating at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was stopped and during the traffic stop, it was found that Samaira Dros, a passenger in the vehicle, had a warrant from North Harmony Town Court from a previous harassment charge from 2009.

Dros was taken into custody on the warrant. Upon arraignment in Chautauqua Town Court, she was allegedly found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana.

Dros was charged with second-degree harassment and unlawful possession of marijuana.

She was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail for the North Harmony warrant and will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date on the marijuana charge.

  • JAMESTOWN – A 33-year-old woman was issued appearance tickets Monday after police found she had failed to report her husband’s income from unemployment.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Krista Garcia, of Jamestown, allegedly received $652 in benefits from May through August of last year that she was not entitled to receive due to the unreported income.

Garcia was charged with misuse of food stamps and offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree. She is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

  • MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Thursday, Glenn Reynolds, 51, of Randolph, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

Reynolds was wanted by police for a felony driving while intoxicated charge. He is currently in the Chautauqua County Jail and has been removed from the county’s wanted list.

Carol Lamont-Wright, 43, of Deer Street, was charged with second-degree harassment on Wednesday.

Ryan Hudson, 19, of New Road, was charged with violation of probation on Wednesday.

Tracy Garrison, 48, of Angola, was charged with using an electronic device while driving on June 21.

Geraldo Santiago, 48, of Maple Avenue, was charged with two counts of having unlicensed dogs on June 18.

Salvador Agosto, 33, of Brigham Road, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and not wearing a seatbelt on June 20.

Rudolph Thomas, 52, of East Courtney Street, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument on June 21.

Rodolfo Laza Jr., 23, of West Fourth Street, was charged with violating a noise ordinance on June 21.

Vanessa Stevens, 23, no current address, was charged with petit larceny on Saturday.

Albert Stephenson, 55, of Antelope Street, was charged with second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief on Saturday.

Annette Zapata, 24, of Lincoln Avenue, was charged with second-degree harassment and having an unpaid fine on Sunday.

Jermaine Batten, 35, of Fredonia, was charged with violating a noise ordinance on Sunday.

Gary Gilbert, 31, of Swan Street, was charged with criminal contempt on Sunday.

Scott Couchman, 43, of Adams Road, Fredonia, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Monday.

Jonathan Collazo-Gomez, 23, of Leopard Street, was charged with forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana on Tuesday.

Jamestown Police Department

Johnny Nunez, 43, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree burglary, larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal using drug paraphernalia on Tuesday.

At 1:10 a.m. police responded to a Barrett Avenue address for a burglary in progress call. Neighbors had called to report a man, who was not the resident, carrying items from the garage making several trips. Officers were able to identify Nunez and obtain a search warrant. They found Nunez at his residence along with items from the burglary, drugs and drug paraphernalia. Nunez was sent to the city jail where he is awaiting arraignment.

Jordyn P. Plaza, 22, of Dove Street was charged with petit larceny on June 24.

At 9:23 p.m. deputies responded to a call at a Route 5 trailer park in the town of Dunkirk for a male who had stolen a purse. It is alleged Plaza stole the female’s purse without permission and took several items out of the purse. Plaza was located the following day and released on appearance tickets for Dunkirk Town Court.

Argument over graduation money leads to arrest

RIPLEY – On Sunday, Timothy D. Dulmus, 40, of 2328 Hannon Road in Harbor Creek, Pa. was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

At about midnight, Marlena L. Hemenway reported harassment. She and Dulmus got into a argument over their son’s graduation money. Hemenway told Dulmus she hid the money since he was known to take money.

Dulmus became angry and reportedly grabbed Hemenway by the neck. Their son saw this and tried to separate them. Dulmus reportedly punched his son in the nose, causing the nose to bleed.

Dulmus was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $500 cash bail. He is to appear in the Village of Ripley Court at a later date.

Westfield Police assisted with the incident.

Silver Creek man remanded to jail

SILVER CREEK – On Saturday, William Maecker, 59, of 133 Central Avenue, Silver Creek was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, resisting arrest, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, refusing a pre-screen test, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

At about 2:11 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue for a reported traffic violation. Allegedly, Maecker was intoxicated and resisted arrest. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

Maecker was arraigned in the Village of Silver Creek Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 cash bail. He is to appear again in the Village of Silver Creek Court at a later date.

State Police at Collins

VERSAILLES – On June 9, David Procknal, 43, of School Street in North Collins and Nathan Grabar, 23, of Gowanda State Road in Eden were charged with trespass.

Troopers responded to Eaton Road and spoke with a landowner who saw a truck parked on a gas well access road and believed Procknal and Grabar had crossed his land to fish in a county pond off of North Road.

When the two men returned to the truck, troopers issued them tickets for the Town of Perrysburg Court.

Dunkirk Police Department

Nilda Colon, 63, of Mullet Street, was charged with 21 counts of possessing unlicensed dogs on June 10.

Yalitza Nieves, 33, of South Beagle Street, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to yield the right of way on Tuesday.

Toshcani Serrano-Diaz, 19, of Bennett Road, was charged with violation of a probation on a warrant Tuesday.

Kennedy man charged following fight, stabbing

KENNEDY – On Wednesday, New York State Police from Jamestown with the assistance of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department charged Melvyn L. Jackson, 52, of Waterboro Hill Road, Kennedy for second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, and second-degree harassment.

Reportedly, Jackson punched a male subject in the face and then stabbed a female subject in the hand. He fled the scene prior to arrival of the police.

Chautauqua County deputies with K-9 Drago were able to track Jackson and take him into custody.

Jackson was processed at the state police barracks in Jamestown, arraigned in the Town of Ellicott and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 property bail.

The female victim was transported to the WCA Hospital by the Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department and is being treated for her injuries. The male subject refused treatment.

Jamestown man charged following drug investigation

BUSTI – Shane T. Newberry, 26, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Tuesday, June 18.

Newberry was taken into custody by the Lakewood-Busti Police on an outstanding arrest warrant from Busti Town Court. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation into cocaine sales in the village of Lakewood by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

It is alleged that Newberry sold cocaine to an agent of the task force. He was arraigned in Busti Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail pending further action of the court. As a result of this arrest, additional arrests are expected.

CHAUTAUQUA – Jeffrey M. Skellie, 25, of North East Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, disobeying a stop sign, unlicensed operation and unregistered motor vehicle on Tuesday, June 16.

At 1 a.m. sheriff deputies were in the area of Webber and Potter roads for a complaint of a large outdoor party. Deputies observed Skellie’s vehicle pass a stop sign on Potter Road and turn onto Webber Road and he was found to be intoxicated.

Skellie was released on an appearance ticket for Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

FORESTVILLE – Tinesha G. Kenny, 23, of Water Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief on Wednesday. At 3:45 p.m. Kenny allegedly broke a window during an argument that took place in the village. She was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

SILVER CREEK – Linda S. Douglas, 55, of Lake Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Wednesday. At 6:28 p.m. Douglas was charged for allegedly yelling obscenities at a victim on numerous separate occasions. She was released on an appearance ticket for Silver Creek Village Court.

HANOVER Robin E. Jones, 40, of Irving was charged with obstruction of governmental administration and violating the sewer ordinance Friday.

At 12:55 a.m. deputies were performing a driving while intoxicated investigation on a stopped vehicle on Alleghany Road. Jones was a rear passenger in this vehicle and tried to exit the vehicle multiple times and disregarded deputies commands to stay in the vehicle. Jones did allegedly exit the vehicle and urinated on the side of the road.

He was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.

Medical condition causes North Collins man to crash

HANOVER – A two-vehicle accident Wednesday evening sent one to the hospital with injuries. According to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle operated by Hans D. Groth, 63, of Angola was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Seneca Road and Routes 5 and 20 in the town of Hanover. A second vehicle operated by Charles R. Fraser, 73, of North Collins was traveling east on Routes 5 and 20 when he suffered an apparent medical condition, causing his vehicle to drift out of the lane and collide with Groth’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in a ditch and Fraser was transported by ambulance to Lake Shore Hospital while Groth was uninjured. No charges were filed.

City bicyclist struck, driver charged

A Silver Creek woman was issued a ticket after striking a Dunkirk man on a bike Monday.

Jeanetta Cosaboom, 39, of Silver Creek, was charged with unsafe backing Monday around 8 p.m.

Dunkirk Police reported Cosaboom was in her vehicle in a driveway on Central Avenue when she started backing up. She struck a bicyclist who was traveling north on the west sidewalk of Central Avenue.

The bicyclist was identified as Al Dominguez, 36, of King Street Upper. There was no report of Dominguez’s condition.

Former teacher sentenced in forgery case

A former Dunkirk teacher has been sentenced for forgery in Buffalo area courts. Samuel Saeli, 34, was sentenced to six months at the Erie County Correctional Facility and five years probation.

Saeli pleaded guilty in March after authorities caught him on surveillance video at a FedEx store forging a judge’s name on his teaching certificate in attempts to reinstate his teaching license. Saeli’s license was revoked in 2009 for questionable character.

Connor Farnham, 19, of Leon Place, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Thursday. He was issued an appearance ticket.

State police in Jamestown detain fugitive from justice

NORTH HARMONY – On Monday, Francisco Alicea-Vargas, 48, of Bronx was detained as a fugitive from justice.

A trooper pulled a vehicle over on Interstate 86 for a traffic violation. While checking the license of the driver, the trooper received a response notifying him that Alicea-Vargas was wanted by the Erie, Pa., police for several charges.

Alicea-Vargas was processed, arraigned in the Town of Harmony Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

SILVER CREEK – A male youth was charged with second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana Saturday.

At 9:25 p.m. the youth was observed by deputies on foot patrol in the Silver Creek Village Park with a marijuana pipe. Deputies approached the youth, who attempted to flee.

The youth was later taken into custody and released on appearance tickets for Silver Creek Village Court.

Collins man charged; trooper injured

COLLINS – On Fri-day, Cory L. Cornell, 31, of Collins was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Two troopers from the Collins barracks responded to a call from a female victim who had barricaded herself in a bathroom at 3695 Edgewood Drive. Once on location, the officers located the victim and Cornell in the couple’s bathroom.

The victim reported that Cornell had returned home at about 2 a.m. and started a physical altercation with her during which she received numerous injuries including several bruises and scratches, a sprained ankle and inflammation to her back and spine. Prior to the troopers’ arrival, Cornell reportedly damaged a bathroom door and forced the victim’s head through a plaster board wall. The victim was transported to Lake Shore Hospital for evaluation.

Cornell reportedly attempted to flee the scene after he was advised he was being detained. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle. During the struggle, one trooper sustained a minor injury to his left foot. The trooper was evaluated by emergency room staff and released.

Cornell was arraigned in the Town of Collins Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 bail.

Johnson Yvonne, 66, of Buffalo, was charged with having a suspended registration on Saturday.

Dunkirk Police Department

Edward Wilson, 18, of Lord Street, was charged with violating a noise ordinance on June 12.

Cristian Maeslve, 23, of Park Avenue, was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle on June 12.

Tamika Thomas, 16, of Park Avenue, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree grand larceny on June 13.

Matthew Mason, 18, of Lincoln Avenue, was charged with petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana on June 13.

Edriese Walker, 22, of Lake Shore Drive East, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment on Friday.

NaJee Finley, 18, of Park Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct on Friday.

Ruth Wheat, 55, of Gowanda, was charged with driving the wrong way down a one-way street and failure to yield the right of way on Friday.

Joseph Linger, 19, of Gerry, was charged with operating an uninspected motor vehicle and using inadequate signals on Saturday.

Selena Ruiz, 17, of South Main Street, was charged with operating a vehicle with no headlights and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Sunday.

McKenna Phearsdorf, 19, of Allegany, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Sunday.

Jacfet Roldan, 27, of West Second Street, was charged with violating a noise ordinance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Sunday.

Luis Galarza-Gonzalez, 31, of Canary Street, was charged with violating a noise ordinance on Sunday.

Frank Ameno, 51, of South Gazelle Street, was charged with trespassing on Monday.

SHERMAN – Eliza-beth A. Horn, 23, of Union City, Pa., was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and leaving the scene of a property damage accident on June 16. The charges stem from an alleged incident on June 11. An arrest warrant was obtained by Sherman Town Court following the incident.

Horn was located on June 16 by deputies driving her car on Route 430 in the town of Sherman. She was taken into custody and arraigned in Sherman Town Court where she was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.

Fredonia man charged after property damage accident Saturday

HANOVER – On Satur-day, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies charged Thomas A. Cuccia, 60, of Fredonia with unsafe backing, driving while intoxicated, and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher.

At about 6:50 p.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle property damage accident near the intersection of Dennison Road and King Road.

Reportedly, Cuccia was operating his vehicle on Dennison Road when he failed to negotiate a left turn onto King Road, entered a lawn, and came to a stop. He then reportedly place his vehicle in reverse and backed across the roadway into a ditch.

Cuccia was issued traffic tickets and is to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.

Silver Creek resident charged with illegal open burning

HANOVER – On Friday evening, Jeffrey A. Parisio, 23, of Silver Creek was charged with an illegal open burn.

At about 9:45 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist the Silver Creek Fire Department with a conservation complaint. After investigation, Parisio was charged under the New York State Burn Ban legislation. He was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.

Alleged disturbance leads to drug arrest

GOWANDA – The re-port of a disturbance and possible drug deal at 34 E. Main St. led to the arrest of a Springville man.

James A. Wheat, 24, of East Main Street, Spring-ville was charged after po-lice responded to a residence for the disturbance. When police arrived, Wheat attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Wheat was found to be in possession of 6.5 grams of suspected cocaine, some individually packaged, an illegal spring-loaded knife, suspected narcotic pills not in any container and $1,200 cash. An investigation led to the discovery Wheat had been selling these drugs from his residence. He was charged with third-degree felony criminal sale of a controlled substance, fourth-degree felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance not in its original container and obstructing governmental administration.

Wheat was arraigned in Collins Town Court from where he was sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $5,000 bail. The Erie County Sheriff’s Depart-ment assisted with this incident. Further investigation revealed the reported disturbance came from a neighboring apartment where the resident had kicked in his door after being locked out.

RIPLEY – Harry O. Lindsay, 33, of Findley Lake, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief on Wednesday.

Around 11:30 p.m., deputies and Westfield Police were dispatched to a disorderly person on Route 5. Through an investigation, deputies allege that Lindsay became disorderly and punched the hood of a vehicle, causing damage.

He was arrested and arraigned in Ripley Town Court, where he was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.

CHAUTAUQUA – Gary Shomo, 52, of Bedford, N.H., was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Friday.

Around 8 p.m., deputies spotted Shomo speeding on Hartfield-Stockton Road in the town of Chautauqua. He was found to have a suspended New York state license and was issued tickets.

Larry King, 59, of Mayville, was charged with DWI, speeding, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and refusal to take a breath test on Friday.

Around 10 p.m., deputies stopped King for speeding on Fredonia-Stockton Road in the town of Pomfret. Following an investigation, it was allegedly found that King was intoxicated. He was brought to Pomfret Town Court, where his driver’s license was suspended.

He will appear in the same court at a later date.

JAMESTOWN – A 33-year-old man is incarcerated at the Chautauqua County Jail afor reportedly not disclosing employment and income to the Department of Social Services.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, an arrest warrant was issued for Brock Zampogna Thursday by the Jamestown City Court for fourth-degree grand larceny, misuse of food stamps and fraudulent receipt of benefits. It is alleged that from August through December of last year, Zampogna did not report he was employed and receiving income. He received over $3,000 in Medicaid and food stamp benefits that he was not entitled to receive.

Zampogna will appear in Jamestown City Court.

HANOVER – On Saturday, David W. Kleis, 21, of Homestead Road in Hamburg was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, driving across hazard markings, and moving from lane.

At about 5 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle operated by Kleis on Routes 5 and 20 for reported traffic violations. Deputies report Kleis was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and later released with traffic tickets.

SILVER CREEK – On Sunday, Shawn A. Winkelmann, 39, of Tew Street in Silver Creek was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher, unsafe lane change and failure to signal a turn.

At 1:40 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle on Howard Avenue for reported traffic violations. Upon further investigation, depu-ties allege Winkelmann was intoxicated. A check of his driving history showed a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years, making this charge a felony.

Winkelmann was taken into custody and released with uniform traffic tickets.

HANOVER – Dimit-rios Landis, 22, of Fredonia was charged Sunday with failure to stop at a stop sign, driving while intoxicated and driving with .08 percent or more of alcohol.

At about 2:10 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle allegedly fail to stop at a stop sign in Sunset Bay. Landis was identified as the operator.

After an investigation, Landis was charged. He was processed and released with traffic citations.

Police seek help in pharmacy burglaries

The Sheriff’s Offices of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties seek assistance from the public in their joint investigation of recent pharmacy burglaries in the area.

On May 29, The Corner Drug Store in the village of Cattaraugus was broken into by smashing a glass window, but the suspects were scared off by an audible alarm before they could steal anything. On that same morning, the Johnson Pharmacy in the village of Mayville was broken into and a small quantity of drugs was stolen after the subject(s) broke a window and entered into the pharmacy.

On June 10, it was reported that some unknown subject(s) attempted entry into the pharmacy located in the village of Randolph. The subject(s) were unable to make entry and nothing was stolen.

On June 11, at around 5:30 a.m., The Sherman Pharmacy in the village of Sherman was broken into. The subject(s) broke and entered through a front window, but were scared off by an audible alarm and didn’t have time to steal anything.

The Sheriff’s offices are asking for the public’s help in identifying the persons responsible for any one of these break-ins and also to be observant and report any suspicious activity seen.

Four charged in Erie County burglaries

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard has announced the arrests of four Buffalo males suspected of committing several burglaries in the towns of Marilla, Wales, Holland, Concord and North Collins.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, four suspicious males went to a woman’s house in Marilla and asked for directions to Buffalo. Concerned because her neighbor’s house had been burglarized the day before, the woman called the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and reported descriptions of the men and the car.

The suspect vehicle was spotted a short time later at the Yellow Goose store on Rt. 20A by deputies. The four subjects were taken to Sheriff’s Patrol Headquarters in Chestnut Ridge Park for questioning. After lengthy questioning by Sheriff’s Office detectives, Sean Guthrie, age 20 of East Lovejoy Street; Jeremy Agosto, age 21 of Greene Street; a 19-year old male and a 17-year old male were arrested. All four subjects were charged with second-degree attempted burglary in the second degree, a class D felony),and taken to the Erie County Holding Center to await arraignment.

Information gained in the investigation implicates the men in nearly a dozen other burglaries committed in the area over the last two months.

JAMESTOWN – David A. Bemis, 44, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and unlicensed operation Wednesday. Bemis was charged following a traffic stop by deputies on North Main Street at 4:47 p.m. A licensed driver took possession of the vehicle and Bemis was released on an appearance ticket for Jamestown City Court.

Several arrested following fight at trailer park

BROCTON – Several adults were charged following a 20 person fight at Crestview Estates in the village of Brocton on June 5. At 10:25 p.m. deputies were called to the trailer park at 133 Lake Ave. for a fight involving parents and their youth. Deputies charged Kristy L. Martinez, 42, Lauralee Lewetzki, 34, Thomas E. Dalton Jr., 35, Denae E. Doner, 31, all of Lake Avenue and Gladys M. Lanphere, 57, of West Main Street with disorderly conduct. All were released on appearance tickets for Brocton Village Court.

Joel Velez, 31, of Deer Street, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief June 4.

Stephen Basley, 25, of Lincoln Avenue, was charged with second-degree harassment, petit larceny, second-degree criminal contempt and criminal obstruction of breathing June 5.

Jessica Goodwin, 28, of W. Fourth Street, was charged with having an unregistered motor vehicle June 7.

Arcadio Soto-Irizarry, 28, of Park Avenue, was charged with third-degree assault June 7.

Amber Spinuzza, of E. Main Street in Fredonia, was charged with disorderly conduct June 7.

Luis Negron, 24, of Ruggles Street, was charged with violating a noise ordinance and operating a motor vehicle without a license Tuesday.

Marcus McCall, 24, of Deer Street, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance Tuesday.

Terry Young-Copeland, 25, of Ruggles Street, was charged with disorderly conduct Tuesday.

Drug Task Force arrests two in

separate incidents

OBSERVER Staff Report

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force arrested two city residents Tuesday in separate incidents for the sale of drugs in the city of Dunkirk.

Ashley M. Nicholson, 25, of East Sixth Street was charged with multiple counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. The STRDTF arrested Nichol-son at the Chautauqua County Jail where she was already being held on unrelated charges. She was indicted by a secret Chau-tauqua County Grand Jury and it’s alleged she sold quantities of crack cocaine to task force agents. Nicholson was arraigned before Chautauqua County Court Judge John T. Ward and sent back to the Chautauqua County Jail.

In an unrelated incident, Marcus J. McCall, 24, of Deer Street was charged with multiple counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. At 8:19 p.m. Dunkirk Police located McCall and arrested him on an arrest warrant from a secret Chautauqua County Grand Jury. It is alleged that McCall has sold quantities of crack cocaine to agents of the task force on several occasions. McCall was taken to Dunkirk City Jail and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment before Judge Ward.

These arrests are a culmination of several month-long investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in the city. The STRDTF is comprised of officers from the Chautauqua County Sher-iff’s Office and Dunkirk Police Department. Author-ities continue to ask members of the community to call either Dunkirk Police at 363-0313 or the STRDTF at 1-800-344-8702 when they observe drug related activity within their community.

Gualberto Gonzalez, 35, of 322 Canary St., Dunkirk, was sentenced to 2-6 years in state prison for two counts of third-degree burglary.

Michael J. Hill, 22, of 11585 Fancher Hill Road, Cattaraugus, was sentenced to 1-3 years in prison for third-degree burglary.

Julio Arizmendi Jr., 23, of 123 S. Zebra St., Dunkirk, was sentenced to 1-3 years in state prison for violation of probation.

Raymond E. Jordan, 62, of 3034 Cassadaga Road, Cassadaga, was sentenced to 1 year in jail for felony driving while intoxicated and third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer.

Jarvelle E. Leeper, 30, of 113 Kidder St., Jamestown, was sentenced to 1 year in jail for first-degree criminal contempt consecutive to 6 months in jail for second-degree criminal contempt.

Jason D. White, 33, of 4546 W. Main St., Fredonia, was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 5 years probation for third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Eric L. Vanaernam, 56, of 1361 Woodchuck Road, Irving, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $2,000 fine and 5 years ignition interlock device for felony driving while intoxicated.

Thomas B. Wutz, 53, of 10343 Alleghany Road, Forestville, was sentenced to 60 days in jail, 5 years probation and a $1,000 fine for felony driving while intoxicated.

Robert Grazulewicz, 32, of 90 Bowen St., Jamestown, was sentenced to 5 years probation, for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Carin C. Knight, 23, of 70 Sturges St., Jamestown, was sentenced to 5 years probation for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Jessica Lay, 21, of 51 Henry St., Salamanca, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and restitution for fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

HANOVER – Daniel J. Paul, 59, of Buffalo was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right on June 9. At 8 p.m. deputies observed Paul operating a motor home towing a trailer on Alle-ghany Road in the town of Hanover. Paul was observed driving entirely in the left lane of traffic for no apparent reason. He was released on an appearance ticket.

RIPLEY – Dale W. Reynolds, 73, of Burton Avenue was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on June 11. Deputies served an arrest warrant on Reynolds for violating an order of protection that he violated on May 16. Reynolds was arraigned in Ripley Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 cash or $2,000 property bail.

KIANTONE – A 17-year-old male was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on June 12. The youth allegedly took a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Douglas D. Baldwin, 33, of Route 5, Dunkirk was charged with disorderly conduct on June 9. At 8:20 p.m. deputies responded to a fight at a residence on Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk. It is alleged that Baldwin engaged in a fight with another neighbor at a trailer park. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Marcus Hoffman, 19, of Buffalo Street was charged with third-degree criminal mischief May 22. Patrol responded to the report of an incident on West Main Street at 10:10 p.m. Hoff-man allegedly scratched a victim’s pickup truck and kicked the door causing damage. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Joshua A. Bowers, 24, of Persia Road was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on May 31. Police responded to a village business for the report of a disturbance with two males fighting on May 16. Police found that Bowers had fled the scene by vehicle. A DMV computer check revealed Bowers license had been revoked for a driving while intoxicated charge. Bowers was located on May 31 and released on an appearance ticket.

William S. Larkin, 24, of Steamburg was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal nuisance, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest on May 31. Patrol responded to a village business for a disturbance at 10:42 p.m. Larkin, who appeared intoxicated, alleg-edly attempted to fight with several individuals and kicked a pregnant female. He fled when patrol arrived and was later located and arrested. He became combative and tried to fight with police. Larkin was released on an appearance ticket.

Sterling S. Doctor, 22, of Commercial Street was charged with disorderly conduct June 1. At 6:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance during the Hol-lywood Happening. Doc-tor, who appeared intoxicated, had caused a disturbance and tried to instigate fights. He was escorted from the premises but became combative with security. Although Doctor had been warned to not return, he attempted to gain entry to the beer tent several hours later. He was further charged with trespassing. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Quintin P. Jones, 34, of Aldrich Street was charged with second-degree ob-structing governmental ad-ministration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct on June 2. At 12:14 a.m. police responded to the Hollywood Happening. Jones, who appeared intoxicated, began yelling profanities and physically challenging police. During his arrest, Jones became combative with police. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Tina D. Kennedy, 42, of Salamanca was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana June 2. At 3:12 a.m. police stopped Ken-nedy who was walking on Union Street causing a disturbance. Kennedy, who appeared intoxicated, was yelling and was found to be in possession of marijuana. She was released on an appearance ticket.

Nicole Tebo, 19, of East Main Street was charged with third-degree assault on June 2. At 9:30 p.m. police responded to the report of a disturbance at a Buffalo Street residence. Tebo had allegedly forced her way into the residence and attacked a female victim striking her in the face with a candle holder causing injury. Tebo was released on an appearance ticket.

Michael Marean, 45, of Hamburg was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration June 7. At 10:45 p.m. police stopped his vehicle on Buffalo Street after an alert from the license plate reader. His registration was suspended for an insurance lapse. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Carson Leikam, 65, of Rood Road, was charged with having an expired registration on June 4.

Matthew Cole, 48, of King Street in Dunkirk, was charged with failure to use designated lane on June 5.

Joseph Pencek, 46, Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk, was charged with having a suspended registration on June 7.

DAYTON – Eric R. Wilder, 42, of Gowanda was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and having an open container in a motor vehicle on June 8. At 1:54 a.m. deputies stopped Wilder’s vehicle on East Leon Road in Dayton. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff warns public of phone scam

LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a phone scam in the Cat-taraugus County area. Res-idents are receiving phone calls from Medical Alert system informing the elderly they have won a free alert system. Residents are being asked for personal information to include personal identification, debit and credit card information, social security numbers, address information and more.

It is a repeat scam that tends to call multiple times, unlike most where you re-ceive one call and it stops. Residents are reminded to never give out any personal information over the phone. Individuals receiving these calls should contact their local law enforcement agency.

SILVER CREEK – Sean Richardson, 20, of Sil-ver Creek was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Monday. At 10:45 p.m., deputies stopped Richardson’s vehicle on Hanover Street for operating with one brake light. Richardson and his passenger, Jordan C. Whitney, 20, of Silver Creek were found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Whitney was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Both were released on appearance tickets.

Richard Balzer, 50, of Route 5 was charged with second-degree harassment Sunday. At 8:20 p.m. deputies responded to a fight on Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk. It was found that Balzer had allegedly started a fight with a neighbor and punched the neighbor in the face.

Balzer was released on an appearance ticket for Dunkirk Town Court.

SILVER CREEK – David A. Anthony, 19, of Erie, Pa., was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana Monday.

At 1:13 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue in the village of Silver Creek for a traffic violation. During the stop, the driver, Anthony, was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and a controlled substance. A 16-year-old youth also from Erie in the vehicle was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Both were released on appearance tickets for Silver Creek Village Court.

NORTH HARMONY – Joshua Risley, 24, of Gerry was charged with moving from lane unsafely Monday. At 11:50 a.m. deputies responded to a single-car accident on Route 394 in the town of North Harmony. Risley, in an attempt to avoid a car slowing in his lane, traveled off the roadway and struck a telephone pole. This caused the vehicle to overturn and strike a flag pole. Risley was issued an appearance ticket for North Harmony Town Court. Deputies were assisted by the Ashville Fire Department and Risley received no injuries.

Jamestown Police arrest several during Operation Impact

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Police Depart-ment, assisted by the New York State Police, Chautau-qua County Probation and Chautauqua County Sher-iff’s Office, on an Operation Impact Detail served several arrest warrants throughout the city Friday. During this detail, several homes were checked and six residents were subsequently arrested based on outstanding warrants.

David E. Shaffer, 45, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree menacing on an arrest warrant from Jamestown City Court.

Victor J. Cameron, 38, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny on an arrest warrant and a violation of probation warrant both from Jamestown City Court.

Roberto Rodriguez-Cruz, 28, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree assault on an arrest warrant from Jamestown City Court.

Jeremy M. Smith, 19, of Jamestown was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny on an arrest warrant from the City of Jamestown Court.

Isaiah T. Pearson, 19, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on an arrest warrant from Jamestown City Court. Pearson attempted to flee from officers who were checking a residence for him. A foot pursuit ensued and Pearson was apprehended leading to a subsequent charge of resisting arrest.

Michael A. Lapp, 24, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree assault on a bench warrant from Chautauqua County Superior Court.

All individuals were transported to the Jamestown City Jail where they are being held pending arraignment.

Lapp was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment in Chautauqua County Court.

RANDOLPH – On Monday, troopers charged Ronald Lilley, 40, of Cherry Creek with felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Lilley pulled over on Route 241 because his truck was having mechanical problems. A trooper stopped to assist him and reportedly discovered Lilley was intoxicated. Lilley was transported to state police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample reported to be .12 percent. A check of his driving record revealed three DWI convictions since 2004, making the charge a felony.

Lilley was processed, arraigned in the Town of Randolph Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Randolph Court at a later date for a felony hearing.

GERRY – On Sunday, troopers charged Ashley Swan, 23, of Lakewood with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

At about 8:20 p.m. a trooper responded to a personal injury auto accident on Route 60. Reportedly, Swan had rear-ended a vehicle while she was texting in an intoxicated condition. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to WCA Hospital in Jamestown by the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries.

Swan was uninjured in the collision. She was transported to state police barracks in Jamestown where she provided a breath sample reported to be .21 percent.

She was processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Gerry Court and released to a sober individual.

South Dayton man charged after altercation

  • SOUTH DAYTON – On Tuesday, Kevin Anderson, 45, of South Dayton was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, and second-degree menacing by state police in Jamestown.

The victim and witnesses allege that Anderson punched another South Dayton man in the face while holding him by the throat and choking him. Reportedly the victim pushed his way past Anderson and then Anderson threatened him with a metal pipe.

The altercation occurred in Anderson’s home after an argument over the use of some camping equipment.

Anderson is to appear in the Town of Cherry Creek Court later this month.

Frewsburg woman charged with violating Leandra’s Law

  • KIANTONE – On Friday, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s officers charged Sherry L. Szczesny, 50, of Frewsburg with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child (Leandra’s Law), driving while ability impaired by drugs, and moving from lane unsafely.

About 10:45 p.m. an off-duty police officer called in a complaint of a vehicle driving all over the road and nearly crashing into the ditch on Route 62. Sheriff’s patrol located the vehicle, driven by Szczesny and stopped it. Deputies believed she was operating the vehicle while impaired by prescription drugs. Because there was a 15-year-old passenger in the car, she was additionally charged under Leandra’s Law (a felony).

Szczesny was taken to WCA Hospital for a blood test and later released. She is to appear in the Town of Kiantone Court at a later date.

State police from Collins conduct ABC inspections

On Friday troopers, working in conjunction with the NYS Liquor Authority, conducted Alcohol Beverage Control act compliance inspections of local businesses in Gowanda, South Dayton, North Collins, Otto, Cherry Creek, Cattaraugus and Forestville.

The following premises were inspected and found to be in compliance: Langford Superette, State Route 75, Langford; Shelley’s Convenience Store, State Route 62, North Collins; South Dayton Supermarket, Pine Street, South Dayton; The Store & More, Main Street, Otto; Shop & Save, Buffalo Street, Gowanda; Brooks Market & Jenny Lee in Cattaraugus; Caves Food Center & Liquor Store, State Route 39, Forestville.

Troopers charged the following individuals with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcohol to a person under the age of 21, in violation of the NYS Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, after they sold various kinds of alcohol to a 19-year-old agent: Jackie Chamberlin, 45, of Gable Street in Dayton, working at Kwik Fill in Gowanda; Richard Reitz, 58, of Walnut Street in Gowanda, working at Reitz Liquor in Gowanda; and Mendle Johnson, 66, of Main Street in Cherry Creek, working at Cross Roads Grocery Store in Cherry Creek.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department

  • KIANTONE – On Sunday, Douglas Pearson, 44, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely and no left sideview mirror.

At about 3:53 a.m. sheriff’s patrol reportedly observed a vehicle drive onto the shoulder of the roadway several times for no apparent reason. Officers also reported saw the vehicle did not have a left sideview mirror.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and after investigation believed Pearson was intoxicated.

He was charged and released to a responsible third party. He is to appear in the Town of Kiantone Court at a later date.

  • HANOVER – On Sunday, George Doyle, 44, of Genesee Street in Lancaster was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se (having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher) and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Allegany Road for reportedly failing to stop for a stop sign. Investigation led to the charges.

Doyle was processed and released with tickets. He will answer charges in the Town of Hanover Court.

State Police at Jamestown charge juveniles in incidents

RANDOLPH – On Thursday, a 16-year-old resident of the Randolph Children’s Home was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. The resident was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with another resident which was broken up by the Home’s staff. According to the report, when the staff members broke up the fight, the youth picked up a chair and threw it against a window, causing it to break.

The youth was arraigned in the Town of Randolph Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $500 cash or $1,000 property bond.

CONEWANGO – Troop-ers charged a 17-year-old male with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon, criminal sale of a firearm, and criminal possession of stolen property.

The charges follow an investigation of a burglary of a residence in the Town of Cold Spring during May. The youth was arraigned in the Town of Conewango Court and committed to the Cattaraugus Jail on $10,000 cash, $15,000 property bond.

The troopers were assisted by the Cattaraugus Sheriff’s Department and the Seneca Nation of Indian Marshals’ Office.

KIANTONE – On Thursday, a 15-year-old juvenile from the Town of Kiantone was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing, unlawful possession of a weapon (under 16) and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. .

The juvenile reportedly fired a shotgun round in the area near two males fishing at Conewango Creek. The juvenile was given a ticket to appear in Family Court at a later date.

Dunkirk woman facing two charges in caregiving case

On April 25, Dawn Ransom, 54, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.

Ransom was employed as a caregiver. The family of the person receiving care became aware of bruising on the individual receiving care. Investigation by State Police at Fredonia reportedly revealed the bruising was caused by Ransom striking the individual.

Originally arraigned on May 7, Ransom is due in the Town of Pomfret Court on June 11 at 9 a.m.

Dean Campese III, 17, of Martin Street in Dunkirk, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speed in zone on May 31.

Prudencio Ortiz, 17, of Temple Street, was charged with disorderly conduct for language on May 31.

Brian Warner, 19, of Little Valley, was charged with having an uninspected motor vehicle on June 1.

David Munella, 51, of Jamestown, was charged with having an uninspected motor vehicle on June 3.

Savannah Blanchard, 20, of Sherman, was charged with texting while driving on June 3.

Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force

PORTLAND – Mark R. Dzielski, 27, of Ellicott Road, Brocton was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance on June 5.

Dzielski was arrested on an arrest warrant from the Portland Town Court. The charges stem from a Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force investigation into the sale of opiate based pharmaceuticals in the village of Brocton.

Dzielski was located at the Chautauqua County Jail where he was incarcerated on unrelated charges. Dzielski will be arraigned in Portland Town Court and sent back to the county jail.

Westfield Police Department

Three youth were charged with third-degree criminal trespass on May 30. At 8:40 p.m. a concerned citizen notified police of several subjects crossing the Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge over Chautauqua Gorge. Police investigated and found three youths aged 15, 16 and 18. All were released on appearance tickets.

A 16-year-old Westfield male was charged with disorderly conduct on June 5. At 7:25 a.m. police on patrol observed the youth riding his skateboard down the center of the roadway on North Gale Road obstructing traffic. The youth was given an appearance ticket for Westfield Town Court.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Shawn M. Hale, 20, of Kent Street was charged with a probation warrant on Thursday. At 6:30 p.m. deputies located Hale at a residence in the village of Sinclairville. He was wanted on a probation warrant for sexual misconduct. Hale is being held at the Chautauqua County Jail.

Mushrooms send Westfield man to jail

WESTFIELD – A 47-year-old man was taken to Chautauqua County Jail after he was allegedly found to be in possession of Psilocybin mushrooms and Fentanyl and was using the drugs in close proximity to a child.

According to the Westfield Police Department, shortly after 10 p.m. on May 31, police responded to a residence on Cass Street for a harassment complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed Jesse Newman, of Westfield, smoking the controlled substance.

Newman was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Westfield Court and bail was set.

Seatbelt violation leads to marijuana possession charge

SUNSET BAY – On Tuesday, troopers from Collins charged Salvatore Scinta, 48, of Milestrip Road in North Collins with unlawful possession of marijuana, after stopping him on Routes 5 and 20 for reportedly not wearing his seatbelt.

After stopping Scinta, troopers reported seeing a large plastic bag in plain view containing 14.5 grams of marijuana. Reportedly Scinta also possessed a glass pipe with marijuana in it and another plastic bag containing 1.5 grams of marijuana.

He was issued several tickets.

Westfield Police Department

Andrew George, 20, of Erie, Pa., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after police allegedly found him to be in possession of a small quantity of the illegal drug around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. George’s vehicle was stopped by police after he was spotted speeding on West Main Street. He was issued a uniform traffic ticket for speed in zone and also issued an appearance ticket.

Amanda Overbeck, 25, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unsafely moving from a lane after police investigated a vehicle accident on South Portage Street on May 30 at 11:30 p.m. It is alleged that a vehicle operated by an intoxicated Overbeck had driven across the white hazard markings of the roadway and struck a parked car. She is to appear in Westfield Court.

Leonard Erhard, 35, of Mayville, was charged with possessing an open container of alcohol after police were dispatched to two suspicious males at Market Street May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Police allegedly found Erhard with an open bottle of Bud Light. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Thomas Stoughton, 30, of Westfield, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and failure to stop at a stop sign after police allegedly saw a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Creamery Road at Route 20 on Saturday around 11 p.m. Upon further investigation, it was determined the vehicle was being operated by an intoxicated Stoughton, who allegedly registered a blood alcohol content of .20 percent.

Stoughton’s license was also found to be suspended due to a prior drinking and driving offense. He will answer the charges at a later date in Westfield Court.

Area Police

Trucker jailed on gun charges

ELLERY (AP) – A truck driver from Wisconsin is in jail after state police say they found him carrying an illegal handgun and other weapons.

Troopers conducting a commercial vehicle checkpoint Monday afternoon on Interstate 86 in the town of Ellery say they were inspecting Michael Coulter’s tractor-trailer when they found a Hi-Point model JCP .40-caliber pistol inside the truck.

Police say the 45-year-old Milwaukee resident didn’t have a valid pistol permit for the gun and was in possession of three ammunition magazines containing 10 rounds each. New York’s gun laws limit magazines to seven rounds.

Troopers say Coulter also had a dagger, billy club and metal knuckles. He’s being held in the county jail.

Chautauqua accident leads to DWI charges for Cherry Creek man

  • CHAUTAUQUA – A one-car accident has led to driving while intoxicated charges in the town of Chautauqua Monday. At 6:11 p.m., deputies responded to an accident on Elm Flats Road. Travis J. Logan, 29, of Cherry Creek was taken into custody and charged with felony DWI, aggravated DWI for having a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and numerous other traffic violations.

Logan was arraigned in Westfield Town Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

State Police at Fredonia

  • HANOVER – On Tues-day, Lydia E. White, 19, of Irving was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and underage alcohol possession.

White was pulled over on Routes 5 and 20 for reportedly having a modified exhaust and no front plate. Allegedly, she had 2.6 grams of marijuana and nine cans of Bud Light Line Straw-beritas in her possession.

She was issued tickets for the Town of Hanover Court.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

SILVER CREEK – Jamie L. Delregno, 31, of Rochester was charged with speeding and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Tuesday. At 1:55 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on Central Avenue. Delregno, was found to have a suspended license. He was taken and arraigned in Silver Creek Village Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

CASSADAGA – Joseph W. Zipp, 22, of Forestville was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, DWI and operating a motor vehicle with less than two headlights on Monday. At 11:37 p.m. deputies observed Zipp driving with less than two headlights on Route 60 and found to be intoxicated. He was released on appearance tickets for Stockton Town Court.

RIPLEY – Timothy Conklin, 60, of State Street was charged with trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief on Monday. Conklin allegedly trespassed on another resident’s property and became involved in a dispute at 9:30 p.m. During this dispute, a flower pot was damaged. Conklin was released on an appearance ticket for Ripley Town Court.

Daniel Osorio, 35, of Leopard Street, was charged with 31 counts of unlicensed dogs on May 9.

Chelsea Center, 22, of Plover Street, was charged with 31 counts of unlicensed dogs and four counts of having too many cats on May 14.

Timothy J. Will, 22, of Forestville, was charged with obstructed view on May 29.

Rodney G. Clyburn, 33, of Arrowhead Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct on May 29.

Augusto Rodriguez-Rivera, 20, of Columbus Ave, was charged with second-degree obstructing of a governmental administration on May 29.

Julio A. Montalvo, 36, of Maple Avenue, was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having no plates on May 30.

Leon C. Jones, 30, of Buffalo, was charged with 2 counts of third-degree and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on May 30.

Aaron Pietrkiewicz, 21, of Forestville, was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle on May 31.

Sheila Goulding, 63, of Portland, was charged with petit larceny on May 31.

Wendy Beck, of Amherst, was charged with using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle on May 31.

Gabrielle Gilbean, 23, of Centreville, Va., was charged with operating while using a cell phone on May 31.

Raymond Manning, 25, of West Lake Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to use a turn signal on Sunday.

Brandon Logan, 30, of Gerry, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and 13 counts of parking tickets on Monday.

Leon Jones, 30, of Buffalo, was charged with 2 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance Tuesday.

Eric DePasquale, 28, of S. Margay Street, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation Tues-day.

State Police at Collins

IRVING – Titus Deome, 38, of Irving was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing on May 19. Deome allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during an early morning domestic dispute at his home. He reportedly held the victim down on a bed with his arm over her neck, obstructing her breathing and also damaged a window. He was arraigned in the Brant Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,500 bail. The Seneca Nation Marshals assisted with this arrest.

GOWANDA – Chris-topher Marek, 20, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant May 19. Go-wanda Police had stopped Marek’s vehicle for a traffic stop and found an arrest warrant from the New Albion Town Court. He was transported to New York State Police barracks in Collins. He was arraigned in New Albion Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

PERRYSBURG – Carl Stevens, 20, of Brant was charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief on May 20. Stevens allegedly assaulted a victim on Gun Parker Road by punching the victim in the face breaking the victim’s glasses and continued the assault after the victim was on the ground. He was released on an appearance ticket.

GOWANDA – John Swann, 48, of Emmaus, Pa., was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on May 22. Troopers were alerted to Swann’s erratic driving by an off-duty trooper on Route 62. Swann was driving a tractor trailer with heavy front end damage caused after allegedly striking a utility pole following a delivery. Swann was found to have a blood alcohol content of .18 percent. He was released on an appearance ticket.

GOWANDA – Chris-topher Wailand, 31, of West Seneca was charged with driving while intoxicated May 26. Troopers stopped Wailand’s vehicle on Buffalo Street for driving with no headlights and was found to be intoxicated. Wailand reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .15 percent. He was released to appear in Collins Town Court.

State Police at Jamestown

NORTH HARMONY – Taylor J. Stursa, 20, of Mayville was charged with second-degree harassment and second-degree aggravated harassment on May 31. Stursa was charged following a dispute that occurred on the side of the road of Route 394 where Stursa and an 18-year-old female were arguing. Stursa allegedly grabbed and pushed the female then made unwanted threatening phone contact with her thereafter. Stursa turned himself into State Police barracks in James-town and was arraigned in North Harmony Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance and an order of protection was filed.

Westfield Police

David L. McLaughlin III, 19, of Westfield was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration on May 25.

Police were investigating an alleged car larceny on Union Street that occurred at 1:53 a.m. During the investigation, a description of the alleged suspect was given and police found a male matching this description on Elm Street.

The male, later identified as McLaughlin, fled on foot from officers twice. McLaughlin was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail and will appear in court at a later date. The investigation is continuing.

Steven A. Keller, 59, of Elm Street was charged with second-degree assault on May 26. At 12 a.m. police responded to an Elm Street residence for an alleged domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers found an 83-year-old victim to have multiple lacerations and contusions to the face. It is alleged Keller caused the physical injuries to the victim. He was arraigned in Village of Westfield Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail. The victim was treated at Westfield Memorial Hospi-tal and later released.

Daniel K. Dunmore, 22, of Washington Street was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on May 26. At 7:50 p.m. Dunmore was charged for violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Westfield Court and released on his own recognizance.

Percy Cameron, 26, of Buffalo was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding on May 26. At 10:11 p.m. police observed Cameron’s vehicle speeding on Portage Street. It was found Cameron’s license was suspended. Cameron was released on appearance tickets.

Amanda K. Overbeck, 25, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated and moving from lane unsafely on May 30. At 11:30 p.m. police investigated an accident on South Portage Street. It is alleged that Overbeck’s vehicle had driven across the white hazard markings of the roadway and struck a parked car when she was intoxicated. She was released on appearance tickets.

Lisa M. Muldowney, 20, of Schulz Hall, SUNY Fredonia was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana on May 4.

Andrea M. Tantillo, 20, of Webster was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol on May 4.

Michael W. Nichols, 21, of Hendrix Hall, SUNY Fredonia was charged with disorderly conduct on May 12.

Gowanda Police Department

Mardi John, 19, of East Main Street was charged with petit larceny on May 13 after police responded to a report of a shoplifter at a Buffalo Street business. Police arrived and were notified that John had placed several items in her purse and left the store without paying for them. She was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court. All stolen items were recovered .

Amanda Lee Bordan, 18, of Buffalo Street was charged with petit larceny on May 16. At 3:05 p.m. police responded to the report of a shoplifter at a village business on Buffalo Street. Bordan had allegedly placed a food item in her purse and left without paying for it. She was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court. The stolen item was recovered by patrol.

Eric M. Saffron, 32, of Buffalo was arrested on a warrant on May 16 after police interviewed Saffron on Aldrich Street. Saffron was arrested on a warrant out of Erie County Family Court for failure to pay child support. He was turned over to the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

Sammie Harris, 25, of Buffalo was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to keep right on May 17 after police stopped Harris’ vehicle for weaving over a double yellow solid line on Buffalo Street. Harris was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court.

Sterling S. Doctor, 22, of Commercial Street was charged with third-degree assault on May 17. At 10:35 p.m. police responded to Jamestown Street, where Doctor had allegedly punched a victim in the back of the head, causing injury. Doctor was released on an appearance ticket for the Persia Town Court.

Andrew D. Estrada, 18, of Walnut Street was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of alcohol and failure to dim headlights on May 18 after police stopped Estrada at 2:30 a.m. on Sand Hill Road. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court.

William G. Church, 26, of Delevan was charged with criminal mischief on May 19. At 8:04 p.m., police responded to the report of a domestic incident on Perry Street. Church had allegedly been aggressive and had damaged property at the residence. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court.

Christopher Marek, 20, of Cattaraugus was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on May 19 at 2:10 a.m. after police stopped Marek for numerous vehicle violations on Buffalo Street. It was discovered Marek’s license had been suspended on various traffic infractions five separate times. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court.

Angel M. Kurtzworth, 24, of Palmer Street was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on May 19. Police were notified that Kurtzworth had violated an order of protection issued by Cattaraugus County Family Court. Kurtzworth was arraigned in the Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $250 bail.

Barry C. Davis, of Perrysburg was charged with issuing a bad check on May 21. Davis was a passenger in a traffic stop in the town of Brant when a computer check revealed an active warrant from Gowanda Police following a complaint from a local business. Davis was turned over to police, arraigned in Collins Town Court and was released on his own recognizance to return at a later date.

Reginald Irion, 53, of Jamestown Street was charged with endangering the welfare of a child on May 22. At 9 p.m. police received a complaint that Irion had made an obscene gesture and intentionally grabbed his genitals while facing a female victim who was accompanied by her nine-year-old son. Irion was released on an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

Sterling S. Doctor, 22, of Commercial Street was charged on an arrest warrant on May 24. Doctor failed to appear in court for a previous arrest warrant and was taken into custody. He was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Sheryl L. Wolins, 46, of Perrysburg was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on illegal left turn on May 25 after police observed her vehicle making an illegal left turn from South Water Street onto West Main Street. A computer check revealed Wolins’ licensed was suspended for failure to pay driver’s assessment responsibility. She was released on an appearance ticket for the Persia Town Court.

Cara L. Keyes, 30, of Brant was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating with a suspended license and operating without insurance on May 26 after the license plate reader alerted to Keyes’ vehicle for a suspended registration. A computer check revealed Keyes’ license was suspended. She was released on an appearance ticket for the Collins Town Court.

Dennis G. Mitchell, 24, of Broadway Road was charged with unlawfully growing marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana on May 27. During the investigation into marijuana being grown in the village, police discovered Mitchell had a small plot of plants he was growing. Mitchell was released on an appearance ticket for the Persia Town Court.

Adam R. Dubel, 19, of Lancaster was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on May 25. At 1:38 p.m. Dubel was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop on Broadway Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, police detected a strong smell of marijuana. Dubel was found to be in possession of a small baggie of marijuana, a marijuana pipe and a water pipe used for smoking. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court.
