City man charged after making threat with firearm

A 19-year-old Dunkirk man is in the Chautauqua County Jail after a firearm was displayed in a domestic dispute Saturday morning.

According to Dunkirk Police, Najee T. Finley was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a loaded firearm, second-degree menacing, second-degree obstruction of justice, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment after an incident on the 500 block of Park Avenue around 1 a.m. after officers were called to investigate a domestic dispute. Officers say Finley had threatened the life of a female with a firearm.

Finley was located by patrols in the area and he physically obstructed officers while attempting to run away. He also struggled with officers as they attempted to conduct a safety search for a weapon and was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

He was held in city jail and arraigned by Judge Walter Drag before being sent to Mayville.

Sherman man charged after inappropriate contact with juvenile

SHERMAN – Gary L. Linger Jr., 32, of Sherman, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a juvenile female. The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 11 and Linger is alleged to have acted in a manner likely to be injurious to the mental or moral welfare of that child. He was taken into custody at the Jamestown State Police barracks and arraigned in the Sherman Town Court.

SHERMAN – A deer caused an accident on Interstate 86 Friday. According to deputies, Gregory Parker, 32, of Erie, Pa., was headed west and swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. Parker’s vehicle went off the side of the road, down an embankment and rolled over. Sherman Fire Department responded, but Parker refused treatment. No charges were filed.

PORTLAND – Sergio L. Dros, 22, of Westfield, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation and failure to maintain a lane after a traffic stop on Route 20. Around 1:30 a.m., deputies allegedly saw a vehicle make a traffic violation. Dros was found to be the operator and was allegedly intoxicated. It was also found his driving privileges were suspended due to prior traffic incidents. He was taken into custody and later released. Dros will appear in the Portland Town Court at a later date.

SHERMAN – Angus R. Calhoun, 22, of Sherman, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher and speeding after a traffic stop on Hart Street. Calhoun was allegedly found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. He was later released with tickets to appear in the Sherman Town Court at a later date.
