Silver Creek workshop set for today

Silver Creek will be having a board workshop today at 9 a.m. in the village hall. Public is invited to attend.

Weavers Guild August Meeting

Chautauqua County Weavers Guild will hold its next meeting Saturday at 10 a.m. at the YWCA in Westfield. Members will start planning their next weaving project using information presented at previous meetings. Anyone interested in weaving or the guild is welcome to attend. League of Women Voters plans wine raffle

The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will have a booth at the 2018 Fredonia Farm Festival on Friday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The drawing will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. and winners will be contacted by phone.

Please stop by to participate in our straw poll, register to vote and to get a ticket to the raffle. We will raffle three gifts from our generous local sponsors. They include: Merritt Estate Winery, Woodbury Winery and Liberty Vineyards.

Dunkirk BOE to hold special meeting

The Dunkirk Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. regarding personnel matter. The board will hold its monthly workshop immediately following the special meeting. Both are open to the public.

Author presentation at the Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library today

Bob Deming will present his book “A History of Bear Lake,” a comprehensive history of one of America’s hidden treasures at the Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library, 22 N. Main St., Stockton. The program will take place at 7 p.m. today and is free of charge.

Polish dinner Saturday

The Dunkirk Elks members are inviting community members to their lodge, located at 428 Central Ave., on Saturday for a Polish dinner. Patrons will enjoy delicious homemade pierogi and galumpki, along with Polish sausage, salad and roll with butter.

The cost for this great meal is $10 for adults (18 years and older), and $5 for children (10 years and younger). Tickets may be purchased presale at the Lodge and will be available at the door. Dinner will begin to be served at 5 p.m. and the kitchen will close at 7:30 p.m.

Elks members look forward to serving the patrons and appreciate the public’s support.

Motorcycle run Saturday

American Legion Riders of Western New York will hold an inaugural ride and dice run on Saturday.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. at the William L. Travis American Legion, 144 S. Erie St., Mayville. Kickstands go up at noon. The ride donation is $15 per driver and $5 per passenger. Food will be served at the Frewsburg American Legion, 9 Meadow Lane, which is the last stop. The event will take place rain or shine. All proceeds will go toward purchasing US Veteran grave markers and flag holders for our County Veterans. For more information, call Cal Fain at 397-3148.
