Chautauqua County Genealogical Society meeting Tuesday

The society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Steele Room at the Darwin R. Barker Library/Museum. Member and guests are asked to bring in a piece of family memorabilia and give a brief family history of the piece with some genealogical background on the item. For example: a family diary, album, newspaper article, militaria (no weapons, please), local family genealogical info. The public is invited to attend. Dunkirk, Mindszenty alums to discuss 70th birthday celebration

Dunkirk High School and Cardinal Mindszenty High School will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at the First Ward Falcons club to discuss the upcoming 70th birthday celebration. With any questions, call Martha Lukasik at 366-1370 and/or Lorraine Cole at 672-2689. The 70th birthday party will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020.

Forestville Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners sets budget hearing

The Forestville Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will conduct its annual budget hearing Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Forestville Fire Station, located at 18 Chestnut Street. The regular monthly meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Pine Valley Board of Education schedules meetings

The Pine Valley Central School Board of Education will hold special board meetings on Tuesday, Oct. 15 (public presentation on the Capital Improvement Project 2019) and Wednesday, Oct. 30 (to appoint the new Superintendent of Schools) in the Board Room (Room #11 in the Elementary School). The Thursday, Oct. 17 Board of Education meeting will be held at the South Dayton Activities Hall. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Chautauqua County Ethics Board to meet Wednesday

The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. in Room 333 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville.

Current members of the board are Susan Dilks, John Lloyd, David Rowe, Rose Sebouhian, and Mary Kay Szwejbka.

Dayton Historical Society plans spaghetti dinner and basket raffle

A fund-raising spaghetti dinner and basket raffle will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dayton Fire Hall, located on Route 62, Dayton. This is to benefit the Dayton Historical Society that is in need of a new roof. The location is handicapped accessible and there is plenty of parking space.

The cost of the dinner is $10 and includes spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, salad, dessert and beverage. Patrons may eat in or take out and tickets are available at the door. In addition to dinner, there will be a basket raffle with tickets selling 4 for $1 and you need not be present to win.

New members are always welcome for only $5 yearly dues. Donations in any amount are also welcome and much appreciated. Donations may be sent to the Dayton Historical Society, PO Box 15, Dayton, NY 14041.
