Forestville sets Memorial Day parade, services

FORESTVILLE — A Memorial Day parade and service will be Monday at 10 a.m. starting downtown. Forestville American Legion Post 953, the Forestville Fire Department, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and miscellaneous vehicles will participate.

The parade will conclude and the service will be at the American Legion grounds, 6 Cedar St. The service honors all veterans and members of the military, along with a traditional 21-gun salute. Doug Allen, the singing voice of the Buffalo Sabres will perform patriotic songs.

The Forestville Food Pantry will provide food and refreshments immediately following the service.

Gowanda VFW Post plans barbecue

GOWANDA — The Gowanda VFW Post 5007, 20 Sandhill Road, will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue or chicken and ribs barbecue on Thursday, June 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. The cost for the chicken and rib barbecue is $13; or for the chicken barbecue, $11. The meal includes 1/2 chicken OR 1/4 chicken and ribs, salt potatoes, cole slaw, and roll. Payment is with cash only.

Doughnut fundraiser held by agency

The Lakeshore Humane Society is holding a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Dougnut sale. Doughnuts are $10 per dozen, pre-sale only. The deadline for presale purchase is June 10. Order online through the LHS website at lakeshorehumanesociety.org. Orders must be picked up on Saturday, June 19 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the agency’s Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk.

Also available during pick-up hours will be special items with fathers in mind from the agency’s Boutique. This fundraiser will support the agency as it helps animals in need. Please see the website for additional information about this event and other work.

Silver Creek Village Board to hold workshop
