Food, other vendors, animals, midway rides, shows, exhibits, pay-one-price admission to grounds except for grandstand shows. $8 pre-sale, $12 at the gate. Today’s grandstand event is the Demolition Derby for $7 at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, AUG. 3

Peaceful Soul Farmers’ Market

The Peaceful Soul Farmers’ Market is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 11359 Southwestern Blvd., Irving. It features a variety of vendors.

St. Joseph’s bingo

Bingo will take place at St. Joseph’s parish, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia. Doors open at 5 p.m.; bingo begins at 7. Masks should be worn by those not vaccinated and social distancing will be observed.

Fredonia Police National Night Out

Join the local Fredonia police and fire department at Russell Joy Park from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be pizza, pop, chips, a bounce house, ice cream, touch a truck, a DJ and face painting.

National Night out at the Cassadaga Fire Hall

Citizens for a Better Cassadaga sponsors National Night out at the Cassadaga Fire Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.

National Night out in Dunkirk’s Washington Park

This event, sponsored by the Dunkirk Police Department, begins in Washington Park at 6:30 p.m. It features Police Officers, Firefighters, City Officials, patrol cars, items for children, McGruff the crime dog, K-9 Gunny, refreshments, bounce houses and fire trucks. There will be a performance by the band “The Rising” in the gazebo. Children must be accompanied by adults. A movie in the park presented by the Dunkirk Recreation Department around 8:15 p.m. Fifth Street will be barricaded from Washington to Park Avenue.

Annual Valley Historical Society meeting

The annual picnic meeting of the Valley Historical Society will take place at the Sinclairville ballpark pavilion with the meal beginning at 6 p.m. sharp. Those attending should bring their own drink and table setting and a dish to pass. The program is “Treasure Trove,” which involves bringing and discussing an old item that would be of interest to others. Anyone interested in local history is welcome.

Opera House movie

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will present the movie “The Truffle Hunters,” at 7:30 p.m. Deep in the forests of Piedmont, Italy, a handful of men, 70 or 80 years young, hunt for the rare and expensive white Alba truffle – which to date has resisted all of modern science’s efforts at cultivation. They’re guided by a secret culture and training Tickets are $7 for adults, $6.50 for Opera House members/seniors, $5 for students, and sold at the door only. Unvaccinated individuals are required to follow CDC guidelines which call for masks to be worn at indoor events and social distancing to be maintained. ANY individual, can, of course, choose to wear a mask at his/her own discretion.

Dunkirk Farmers’ Market

The Dunkirk Farmers’ Market is held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Ruggles Street and Cliffstar Court at the Dunkirk Senior Center. It features local farmers and artisans.

Lucille Ball Comedy Festival

The National Comedy Center presents the 30th annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival Aug. 5-9 featuring more than 50 events and 30 artists in Jamestown. It attracts visitors from across the nation who all come together to share laughter while honoring the craft and its contributors in dozens of venues across Lucille Ball’s hometown, along with events and activities at the National Comedy Center. Gerry Rodeo and Barbecue

The Gerry Rodeo and Barbecue will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Gerry Rodeo VFD Grounds, 4351 Route 60, Gerry. Shows begin at 8 p.m. The Gerry Rodeo is the oldest consecutively running rodeo east of the Mississippi and includes seven PRCA events, with bareback bronc, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing. The rodeo is held rain or shine, with fireworks after shows Wednesday and Saturday. A Western Beef Barbecue is held from 5 to 8 p.m. every night during the rodeo. Southern Tier Triathlon Club Summer Tri Series

The Southern Tier Triathlon Club Summer Tri Series, Sprint Triathlon series consisting of 400m swim, 13-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run takes place in Cassadaga. Suited for anyone from 13 to 100 years of age and for relay teams of two or three people with all fitness levels and abilities welcomed.
