36th Annual Memorial Day Service
The Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse and Veterans Park Museum, will be celebrating its 36th annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29. The service will be co-sponsored by The Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse and Veterans Park Museum and the Knights of Columbus. The service begins at 8:30 a.m. on the Lighthouse grounds at 1 Lighthouse Point Drive, Dunkirk. The flags will be flown in memory of Jim Arnold retired Air Force, volunteer guide at the lighthouse and grandson to Lighthouse Keeper Francis Arnold. The public is welcome to attend this ceremony
Annual golf tourney set for July 28
The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County will hold its annual golf tournament Friday, July 28 at Shorewood Country Club beginning at 9 a.m. Registration takes place between 7 and 8 a.m. and the four-person scramble includes lunch, dinner, contests and autions.
Sponsorships and spots remain available. Cost is $135 per golfer before July 10 and $150 per golfer after July 10. SOAR Chapter meets Tuesday

open Sundays
SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society Museum located at Main and Lester streets is now open for the season. The museum is open every Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. except for holiday weekends. The museum will be open May 21, June 4, 11 and 25. There is no admission charge and all are welcome.

Scouts plan open house today
JAMESTOWN — Girl Scout Camp Horton Hill will hold away camp open house for all campers and prospective campers and their parents from 6-8 p.m. today at the camp location at the Girl Scout Jamestown Service Center on Horton Road. Day Camp will be July 11-14 for all Girl Scouts going into K-12 in the fall. Meet the staff, take a camp tour, do a special craft and have s’mores by the campfire. Benefit to be held this Saturday
SINCLAIRVILLE — A benefit for Mike Schaefer, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Sinclairville Fire Hall. The fundraiser will include a pulled pork dinner, basket raffle and bake sale.
Author to speak in Westfield
WESTFIELD — Author Aimee Eddy will be visiting the Patterson Library on today at 4 p.m. to talk about her book, “Escape to the Garage: Family Love Overcomes Bullying.” The book covers Eddy’s experiences being bullied throughout her childhood and the refuge she found within her family’s garage. Edådy is assistant executive director for The One Life Project, formerly known as “The National Youth Internet Safety and Cyberbullying Taskforce,” she received a Savings Lives award for her work as an anti-bullying advocate in 2019, and she runs a blog called “Finding the Light” that focuses on different aspects of mental illness.
