Floral Hall seeks exhibits
When you’re going to the Chautauqua County Fair this year don’t forget about Floral Hall, our exhibit building! In our building, residents showcase their collections, art, flowers, crafts, agriculture, maple syrup, baked goods, canning, beer, wine, photography, needlework, collectibles and antiques.
All ages can enter the week before the fair in the fair office and the hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents may also enter Saturday, which is entry day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The youngsters, 17 and under, enter free and adults enter with a very minimal fee.

Brocton library plans Friday event
BROCTON — The Ahira Hall Memorial Library is excited to once again be hosting The Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure’s ArtMobile. This year’s program, Rocks, will be in the Library at 3:45 p.m. Friday.
In this program we will learn about the different types of rocks and the rock cycle.
First, we will read “A Rock is Lively” by Dianna Hutts Aston and sing along with the song “Rock Cycle.”
The participants will then be able to create a picture board using rocks for 3-D effect.

Can, bottle drive is Saturday
The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will hold a can and bottle drive on Saturday at the St. Hedwig Church parking lot on Roberts Road in Dunkirk from 9 a.m. to noon. The funds raised from this event will be used to help defray the costs of repairing a broken water line at the St. Hedwig Cemetery on Route 60. The group will also be collecting any monetary donation to help with the cost of excavation and replacing a water line.
New Horizons Band performing Thursday
BROCTON — The Ahira Hall Memorial Library will be hosting the New Horizons Band in Ryckman Park on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. This concert is Sponsored by Jay and Maria Hardenburg in loving Memory of Pauline Stout Hardenburg and Janet Popp Stout.

Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary to hold 57th annual Fly-In Breakfast
The Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club will hold its 57th annual Fly-in Breakfast on Sunday, July 14 at the Chautauqua County Airport, 3389 Middle Road, Dunkirk, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event features all you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, coffee and juice. The cost is $10 adults, $5 children 12 and under. Airplane rides will be available at an extra cost. Many planes will be on display.
Food pantry open July 20
On Saturday, July 20, the Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
