County reports 99 new COVID cases

Chautauqua County reported 99 new cases of the novel coronavirus. The numbers, released Friday, reflect cases reported on Thursday, Dec. 17. Hospitalizations went down by three in the last day - 31 are currently hospitalized with the virus. Of the new cases, 41 were reported in the Jamestown zip code, the largest of any area in the county. Other municipalities reported as many as four new cases. There are now 123 active cases in Jamestown.

MAYVILLE -- County officials are warning the public about a potential scam related to the COVID-19 vaccine. The Chautauqua County Department of Health reported another COVID-related death Thursday, the 25th to date. The county also recorded 71 new cases in addition to 34 people with the virus in the hospital, a drop of two from information released Wednesday.
