American Legion to host band

The American Legion Post 59, located at 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will have music by the local band Freeze, on Saturday, July 21 at the Post. The event is free for members/guests.

Freeze will be preforming from 8-11 p.m.

Dunkirk Fire Department June report

The Dunkirk Fire Department responded to 167 incidents throughout the month of June. Of those incidents, six related to fires, 128 pertained to rescue and emergency medical service, five were for hazardous condition (no fire), 12 were for service, two were good intent calls and 14 were false alarm/false call.

Chautauqua County planning board to meet

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s Capital Projects Special Meeting will be held on Monday, July 23 at 4 p.m. at the Gerace Office Building, Legislative Chambers, at 3 North Erie St., Mayville, NY. 14724. All meetings of the County Planning Board are open to the public.

Fredonia to pave Cushing, Eagle streets

The village of Fredonia will be paving the following streets beginning Friday July 27 through Tuesday July 31:

¯ Cushing Street, between Green and Main streets

¯ Eagle Street, between Main Street and Lakeview Avenue

There will be no on street parking, lane closures and possible road closings.

Westfield Goldenhawks 5k run and 1 mile

walk set for July 21

The Westfield Goldenhawks football and cheerleading program will be hosting a 5k run and 1-mile walk on Saturday, July 21.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. There will be basket raffles and games. All profits benefit the Westfield Goldenhawks midget football and cheerleading. Registration fees for ages 11 and older are $23 until race day. Optional: A race shirt can be purchased at checkout for an additional $10. For $25, one can be a virtual participant.

Chautauqua County Genealogical Society open house set for today

The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society will hold an open house today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Darwin R. Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia. Anyone needing help in tracing their ancestry is invited to attend. Members of the society will be available to help anyone who attends. The regular meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

48th annual Nashville picnic set.

The 48th annual Nashville Picnic will be held on Thursday, July 19 at noon at 195 Route 39 in Nashville, N.Y. Jo Anne and Fred Holdridge will be hosting the picnic again this year at their home.

Those attending should bring a dish to pass, table service, and beverage. There will not be an auction this year. A free-will offering will be taken in place of the auction. All present and former Nashville residents are welcome to attend.

Silver Creek Board of Trustees workshop

The Silver Creek Board of Trustees will be holding a workshop today at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

North County Industrial Water District

There will be a public meeting of the North County Industrial Water District on Wednesday, July 18 at 5 p.m. at the Town of Dunkirk Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a proposed contract extension. At 5:15 p.m. there will be a meeting to discuss a proposed sewer rate increase.
