Chadwick Bay RDC meeting Thursday

The next meeting of the Chadwick Bay RDC Board will be this Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. at Manning’s Fireside Manor. Please note the change in time and venue; the meeting was originally scheduled for 8am at the Fredonia Technology Incubator. A draft agenda is attached.

City of Dunkirk Public Safety Committee meeting and Citizen’s Advisory Committee meeting cancelled

The City of Dunkirk Public Safety Committee meeting scheduled today at 4 p.m. has been cancelled. Also, the Citizen’s Advisory Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the same date has also been cancelled.

Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary monthly meeting

The Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the club room, Mullet Street, Dunkirk. All members are welcome to discuss upcoming events.

The Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Board monthly meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room on the second floor. The following month, the meeting will be held Oct. 10.

First Presbyterian Church Next-to-New sale planned Friday, Saturday

The First Presbyterian Church will hold a Next-to-New sale on Friday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 49 S. Portage St., Westfield.

Lakeshore Humane Society holds

mid-week Pet Adoption Evening Wednesday

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a mid-week Pet Adoption Evening at its Adoption Center today from 6 to 8 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an adoption event, call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.) There will also be an Adoption Day on Sept. 22.

While at the LHS Adoption Center, check out the “Cat’s Meow” Boutique. Also, there is a collection bin in the Adoption Center lobby for refundable bottles and cans.

The Revitalize Dunkirk Bring Your Own Chair Sunset Watch will take place Sunday, Sept. 16, approximately 45 minutes before sunset at the Main Street Beach. There will also be bocce to play on the beach. With questions, call 939-8635.

Jamestown Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to meet Saturday

The Jamestown Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 12:30, Saturday, at the chapter house, 70 Prospect St. Following a brief business meeting, Dr. Gregory Edwards, Faculty Mentor, Empire State College, will present a program about the United States’ Constitution, which was signed Sept. 17, 1787. Members and prospective members are welcome.

Any woman 18 years and older who can prove lineage to a patriot who aided in the American Revolution is eligible for membership. For more information on becoming a member, call Registrar Sharon Terwilliger, 664-4144.

St. Joseph’s Church Community meal to be held Saturday

St. Joseph’s Church will host a community meal at 26 Erie Ave., Gowanda on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. The menu includes goulash, salad, dessert, bread and drinks.

Cassadaga History to be presented Thursday

As part of the Chautauqua County History series, Cassadaga Historian John Sipos will be presenting a history of Cassadaga with photographs at the Fredonia Opera House on Thursday at 7 p.m. The ongoing historical series features various historians from the county, and the admission is free. The series was created for people to learn more about where they live. Sipos has been the village historian for 14 years, and has gathered a number of photographs and stories which he is willing to share. The historical talk of Cassadaga will begin with the first settlers in 1809 to the present. All are welcome.

Cassadaga Fire Department chicken barbecue set for Sunday

The Cassadaga Fire Department, 22 Mill St., will host a chicken barbecue on Sunday from noon to sold out. The cost is $9 adults, $6 children.
