Hanover Democratic Club to meet Thursday

The Town of Hanover Democratic Club will meet this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW in Silver Creek.

We will discuss ideas for fundraising for 2019 elections.

Fredonia water line work today

The Fredonia Department of Public Works announced Tuesday that residents on Forbes Place and portions of Lambert Avenue, Leon Place, Cottage Street and Pleasant Avenue may have an interruption in water service due to the Contractor performing work on the emergency water line project in that area today, Feb. 6.

Warning issued on scam call

A Forestville resident contacted the OBSERVER about a scam phone call she received regarding Social Security. She said the caller told her she was in jeopardy of losing benefits. As with most federal offices, phone calls are not made to residents. They receive letters.

Residents are urged to call local authorities, including the police or sheriff, if they have questions regarding any calls received that request money or personal information.

Gowanda High to

host blood drive

Gowanda High’s Student Council will host a Community Blood Bank Blood Drive on Friday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the high school, 10674 Prospect St. Donors must be 16 years old with a signed CBB parental consent form or 17 and older. You must also weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and have received no tattoos or body piercings for 12 months prior to donating. Walk-ins welcome. Photo ID is required. One donor at this drive will get to pick a $25 gift card to either Game Stop, Walmart or Amazon.

Ahira Hall Library

hosts Author Talk today

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St. in Brocton will host local Author, J. Andersen, today at 6:30 p.m. Andersen will be discussing “Legacy’s Impact,” the latest release in her Destiny by Design Trilogy. Join her at the library for a unique opportunity to hear about the book and to ask questions about writing, publishing and dystopian literature. This event is appropriate for ages 12+.
