Village Board meets Monday

SILVER CREEK — Members of the Silver Creek Village Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in the village board room.

Chiavetta’s barbecue being held today

Forestville Chapter 247, Order of the Eastern Star, will be hosting a Chiavetta’s drive-through take-out fundraiser dinner on from noon until sold out today in the parking lot at Lucky Lanes, 10387 Bennet Road, Fredonia. Cost is $12 cash.

PORTLAND — The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Portland Fire District announced the Annual Fire District Budget Hearing will be conducted with reference to the Annual Fire District Budget at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the headquarters located at 6481 West Main St.

Gowanda VFW Post 5007 to meet

GOWANDA — Gowanda VFW Post 5007, 20 Sand Hill Road, will meet on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. New members are welcome.

Fredonia to pick up limbs, brush next week

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning at 7 a.m. Monday. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday morning. In no case will there be repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. The village encourages biodegradabe bags or barrels and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine.

Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. No loose leaves will be picked up.

Residents are reminded they can bring yard waste to 176 Eagle St. No bags or containers shall be left behind.

Card party planned for Oct. 6

The East Dunkirk Ladies Auxiliary will host their annual Card Party on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at the East Dunkirk Fire Hall. Masks are required at this event. Refreshments will be served.
