Election day dinner set at school
Dunkirk Intermediate School PTO will be holding a Weidner’s BBQ dinner fundraiser on Election Day, Tuesday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the school at 525 Eagle St., formerly the Middle School. This annual dinner was previously held at School 4, and the tradition is continuing at the new building.
Tickets are $13 each and include a quarter chicken, pulled pork sandwich, buttered potatoes, cole slaw, roll and butter. To pre-order tickets and avoid disappointment, call or text (631) 487-3806. There will be a basket raffle held the day of the event with many beautiful baskets to try your luck at winning.
Proceeds to benefit future field trips and activities.
Writing workshops set for library
Adult creative writing workshops held at Darwin R. Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia, on Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Mask required and social distancing observed. Bring a notebook and a pen and get ready to write!
Retirees set monthly gatherings
The Al Tech / Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet on Saturday, Nov. 6, and every first Saturday of the month, at 8:30 a.m. at Demetri’s Restaurant in Dunkirk. All former employees are invited to attend.
Dinner to honor vets is Nov. 6
The Cub and Boy Scouts from Pack 219 and Troop 219 in Cassadaga will be holding their annual Spaghetti Dinner to honor Veterans on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. This year the dinner will be take out only, as a drive through at 228 Maple Ave. at the Cassadaga Memorial Legion Post 1280.
Tickets are available at the Legion, from a Scout or at the event. Veterans dinners are free.
Club seeks greeting cards for holidays
Once again the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club is collecting unused holiday greeting cards with their envelope. In the past two years we have shared more than 3,800 cards with shut-ins, seniors, military members in the VA and those who receive Meals on Wheels.
Help us with another year of bringing a little smile and joy by donating your extra cards. Please contact Linda Dunn at 326-3012 or Doc Hamels at hamels@fairpoint.net or any Rotarian in our area and we will arrange for pick up.
Chamber Annual Meeting set for Dec. 3
Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will hold its Annual Meeting at noon, Friday, December 3 at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron. This luncheon event will feature presentation of the Pam Lydic Coalition Builder Award, as well as election of board members and officers for the year ahead. More details will be announced shortly.
