Pomfret announces paving project

The town of Pomfret has announced that Rood Road, Marthas Vineyard, and Lakeview Avenue will be closed to all traffic Tuesday for the purpose of paving. Delays are to be expected. Equipment could start arriving as early as 6:30 a.m., with actual paving starting after 7:30.

Work planned in Dunkirk, Sheridan

Monday will be a busy day for Highway Workers in the Town of Dunkirk and the Town of Sheridan, as a pair of streets in the region are set for paving.

On Monday, Williams Street in the town of Dunkirk and Pennsylvania Avenue in the town of Sheridan are set to be paved. If rain forces a postponement, the paving will be done the next day, Tuesday.

Highway Superintendent Jeff Feinen, who oversees the department for each town, stated there will not be a detour posted. Drivers will need to be prepared with an alternative.

Sons of Revolution meeting canceled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sons of the American Revolution meeting scheduled for Saturday has been canceled. The next meeting will be on Aug. 12.

Food pantry open on July 22

On Saturday, July 22, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
