One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash between a vehicle and a state Thruway truck Monday afternoon on Interstate 90 in the town of Pomfret.

A portion of the eastbound lane, between the Dunkirk and Westfield exits, was reduced to one lane as a result of the crash — reported around 1:30 p.m.

According to the New York State Police, a passenger vehicle struck a Thruway platform lift truck from behind. A Thruway employee suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene. A passenger was airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the Fredonia Fredonia Department responded Monday to the interstate.
