Stash of cocaine, weapons found in town residence

Two town of Dunkirk residents are facing charges after a four month-long investigation into narcotics activity at 3711 Route 5 that led to the discovery of drugs and guns.

Narcotics Investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and Dunkirk Police Department executed a search warrant at Lot 24 Wednesday at 11:37 a.m. Also assisting in the investigation was Chautauqua County Sheriff’s SWAT, city police and the Dunkirk Police Special Response Team.

Entry was made into the residence and Jesus M. Aponte-Rosario, 34, and Felipe Otero-Otero, 20, were located. As a result of the search investigators seized 21.47 grams of cocaine, a quantity of fentanyl and controlled prescription pills, two 9mm handguns, two large capacity magazines, scales and packaging material for the sale and distribution of narcotics and $778 in currency.

Aponte-Rosario was charged with third-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal nuisance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Aponte-Rosario was also charged with being a fugitive from Justice as he had a felony warrant from Cape May County. N.J. Otero-Otero was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both suspects were transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for CAP arraignment.
