Thirty years ago — 1992

Bobbi Jo Slate, 8-year-old daughter of Edward and Patricia Slate of Westfield, has an open invitation to a horse farm near Rochester, thanks to a helium balloon and a note. Earlier this month, Bobbi released the balloon, which was found on a fence at Breezy Acres Stables in Spencerport. The owner read the letter and wrote back to Bobbi inviting her and her family to visit the horse farm.

Forty years ago — 1982

The Silver Creek Hook and Ladder Fire Company recently celebrated its 75th birthday with a banquet at Hermie’s Restaurant and dancing at the Firehouse. The original charter of members for the company totaled 21 in 1907. Today 38 men are listed as active members with an additional 22 names on the honorary list. Wilford Velzy, Daniel Van Vlack and Albert Seeger have been members for more than 50 years.

Fifty years ago — 1972

The Calendar Girl of the Month is Becky Libby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Libby, Fluker Hill Road, Forestville. She is a senior at Forestville Central School.
