Lake Shore Center for the Arts plans Open Mic session The Lake Shore Center for the Arts, 49 S. Portage St., Westfield, will hold an Open Mic session on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. Attendees can share their poetry, prose or music selection, five minutes each and can bring their books or CDs to sell. Cat adoption fees reduced A special cat adoption opportunity is being made available by the Lakeshore Humane Society throughout September. During the month, the adoption fee for cats over one year of age is reduced to $40. As with all adoptions, this includes: spay/neuter; rabies, distemper, and leukemia vaccinations; FIV/FeLV testing; flea and worming treatments; 10-day health guarantee; and a 30-day refund for return of the cat if there is not a good match with the adopter. Driver Safety Class scheduled for October An AARP Driver Safety Class will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3 and Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Participants must attend both days. VFW auxiliary meets, announces donations SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary met at 5:30 at the post on Sept. 11 for its annual inspection and all went well. After the inspection, the business part of the meeting was held. The auxiliary donated to Trees For Troops, the Auxiliary Christmas card, the Cancer Grant Fund, Wreaths Across America, Health and Happiness, among other NYS Auxiliary projects.
