JAMESTOWN — The Fenton History Center and the 3rd on 3rd Gallery are excited to announce a new photo exhibit “The Rapids to Pearl City: Historic Photos of Jamestown, NY”. The public is invited to the Gallery, Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m. for a free reception. 3rd on 3rd Gallery is a newly renovated art space at 108 E. 3rd St. in Jamestown, NY within the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts.

The Fenton History Center operates a 1863 house museum and an archives and research center. The center’s archives includes a large collection of historic photographs of Jamestown and Chautauqua County. The mission of the Fenton is to connect the past to the present and make the vibrant history of Jamestown and Chautauqua County meaningful for today’s communities, and for generations to come. By taking some of these wonderful photos out of the archives and into a gallery, we can build bridges between the past and present. The display will include never before exhibited photos of Brooklyn Square taken in 1968 -1971. The photos were taken by Cornell E. Seaburg in an effort to document a neighborhood that was disappearing.

The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 16. The opening reception is tonight from 6-8 p.m. and will include a gallery tour by Jennifer Champ, Director of Education and Exhibits at the Fenton History Center. Light refreshments will be served.

3rd on 3rd Gallery is open Monday-Wednesday: noon to 5 p.m., Thursday and Saturday noon to 6 p.m., and Friday noon to 8 p.m.. The gallery is closed Sunday and on most major holidays. For more information call (716)664-2465 ext. 278 or visit reglenna.com.
