The next feature film in the Opera House Cinema Series is “Knives Out,” the Agatha Christie-style murder mystery starring Daniel Craig and Jamie Lee Curtis. It will be screened on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m.

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

Linda Holmes, on NPR, calls the film “one of the best movies of the year, and one of the most purely enjoyable, as well.” Joe Morgenstern, in the Wall Street Journal, calls it “an entertainment that’s as smart, witty, stylish and exhilarating as any movie lover could wish for.” Brian Truitt, in USA Today, says the film “marries the problem-solving of Sherlock and Columbo with the nuttiness of ‘Clue’.” Brian Lowry, on CNN.com, calls it “a whole lot of fun, intended to keep the audience off-balance right up until the finish.” Rated PG-13 (for thematic elements including brief violence, some strong language, sexual references, and drug material, “Knives Out” runs two hours, 10 minutes.
