Newell Road to be closed next week

Jeff Feinen with the Sheridan Highway Department has announced that they will be doing a road closure next week for a pipe replacement for Newell Road near the intersection of Airport Road. Because of this, Newell Road will be closed for a few days during the week starting Monday. A detour will not be posted.

Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary Bake Sale Friday

The Auxiliary of VFW Post 6390 in Sheridan will hold a bake sale this Friday, April 19, in the lobby of the post located at 2556 Route 20.

It will be held during the regular Friday night fish fry dining hours beginning at 4:30. Proceeds will go toward Auxiliary efforts to support veterans and community.

Fredonia Farmers’ Winter Market

This week the Fredonia Farmers’ Winter Market will have lots of goodies form holiday tables, including plenty of eggs, baked goods (gluten-free and vegan, too) and a wide variety of carefully raised local meats. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St., Fredonia. In addition, there will be locally grown fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, maple syrup products, plants, and, as always, DeGolier’s free pancakes.

Jamestown Coin Club meeting and auction set for April 23

The Jamestown Coin Club will hold a meeting and auction on Tuesday, April 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at BOCES, Route 394, Ashville. Doors open at 6 p.m. The meeting is at 7 p.m., followed by the auction. Admission is free. For more information, call 720-1591.

Fredonia American Legion to host live music

On Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m., Joe and the Shmoes of Buffalo will be performing live at the Fredonia American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. All members and guests are welcome at no cost.

Cherry Creek Leon UMC Kids Easter-Fest planned for April 20

Cherry Creek Leon UMC will hold a Kids Easter-Fest on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Church, located at 6813 Main St. in Cherry Creek. The event is for kids up to age 12 and includes cookie decorating, coloring contest, crafts and an Easter egg hunt (bring basket for eggs).

Sheridan Historical Society Spring Basket Raffle to be held Friday

The Sheridan Historical Society Spring Basket Raffle is underway. Fifteen prizes are offered including theme baskets, chocolate, gift cards, lottery tickets, and more. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, and are available at the Sheridan Town Hall, Hamlet Farm, from any member or by calling 785-1403. Drawing to be held on April 19 at 10 a.m. at the SHS building. You do not need to be present to win. Proceeds support the continued work in preserving the history of Sheridan. The Sheridan Historical Society is a non-profit organization of volunteers chartered by the NYS Department of Education. Meetings are held the last Monday of the month and announced in the OBSERVER’S Community Calendar.
