Gowanda Moose plans a number of events

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Loyal Order of Moose, located at 201 Aldrich St., has planned several events for the near future.

¯ Friday it will host a Stop and Shop for Mother’s Day vendor and craft show from 5 to 8 p.m. Many vendors will be present so that patrons can browse for something special. Other features include a 50-50 and gift wrapping for a donation.

¯ Friday, May 14 features a Silly/Ugly Hat Day from 5 to 8 p.m. A fish fry and full menu will be available. Win prizes for silly/ugly hats. Donations benefit kids at the Mooseheart NY Home.

¯ Sunday, May 23 will be a Towel Raffle Party. Doors open at 11, with the raffle starting at noon. Win towels and prizes for a $5 entry. There are also $1 extras, a basket raffle and quarter raffle. Food is available for purchase.

¯ On Saturday, June 12, an Open Air Community Flea Market & Basket Raffle will take place beginning at 8 a.m. The $25 donation per spot covers a 15 by 15 area. The basket raffle drawing is set for 3 p.m. Food is available for purchase. Call 574-6944 for more information.

Collins 50 Plus Seniors sets event schedule

COLLINS — The May 9 to 14 activity schedule for the Collins 50 Plus Seniors includes:

¯ Sunday, May 9: Pickle Ball at 6 p.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym or Collins Town Park.

¯ Monday, May 10: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the Painter Center gym.

¯ Tuesday, May 11: Active Senior Aerobics with Kim at 9 a.m. in the Painter Center gym for a small fee.

¯ Wednesday, May 12: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the Painter Center gym; Quilting w/Florence at 10 a.m. in the Painter Center Community Room; Games & Crafts w/Pat at 1 p.m. in the Painter Center Rose Room.

¯ Thursday, May 13: Pickle Ball at 11 a.m. in the Painter Center gym or Collins Town Park.

¯ Friday, May 14: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the Painter Center gym.

Cassadaga Memorial Legion Auxiliary annual rummage sale set for May 15

CASSADAGA — Cassadaga Memorial Legion Auxiliary will hold its annual rummage sale on Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Post home on Maple Avenue. A bag sale starts at 1 p.m. Patrons are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask while inside shopping.

Registration continues for CASA event

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Chautauqua County announces its 13th Annual Come to the Table virtual auction to be held Friday, May 14 to Thursday, May 20 at betterunite.com/CASAofChautauquaCounty. The auction will feature a tablescape auction, service auction, silent auction and a basket raffle. Guests will enjoy an easy bidding process from the comfort of their homes, offices or smartphones. Register online by Friday for a chance to win a Huffy Classic Cruiser bike! The public is invited.

¯ Dunkirk High School Honor Society Weidner’s chicken barbecue event — Dunkirk High School’s National Honor Society will host a chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This is the rescheduled event from last March 2020. All tickets that were purchased for the original event will be honored. There are also additional tickets for sale. To purchase tickets, contact the high school main office.

¯ Taste of South dinner — The Juneteenth 2021 Celebration Committee will sponsor the Annual Taste of the South from 4 to 6 p.m. at Open Door No. 3 Church of God in Christ, 59 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk. Dinners are take-out only following COVID guidelines. Southern-style African American down home barbecue features ribs, chicken, shredded pork, many sides. ¯ Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association annual plow day demonstration — The Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will host its annual plow day beginning around 8 a.m. Members of the public may pull off to the side of the road and stay in their vehicles to observe the event, which is held at Route 380 and Pierson Road, Stockton. Spectators who exit their vehicles must follow social distancing guidelines.

SUNDAY, MAY 9

¯ South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company Mother’s Day Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue — The South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company will hold its annual Mother’s Day Chiavetta chicken barbecue at its Activities Hall. The dinner costs $11. It is drive-through-only from 11:30 a.m. until sold out. With questions, call 988-5035.

¯ Forestville United Methodist Church Mother’s Day chicken barbecue — Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park St., will hold its annual barbecue from noon until sold out. Adult dinners (¢ chicken and sides) only, $12 each. Drive through service only. Drive up in front of church for delivery to car. Call 965-2506 for details.

SATURDAY, MAY 22

¯ Revitalize Dunkirk’s third annual plant sale — Revitalize Dunkirk’s third annual plant sale will take place Saturday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, behind the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Enter the parking lot from Washington Avenue. There will be hundreds of perennial plant divisions from members’ gardens, most priced between one and ten dollars.
