Planning Board meets Aug. 3

DUNKIRK — Members of the Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 3 in the legislative chambers at the Gerace Office Building room, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville. Annual Historical Society meeting set

The August meeting of the Valley Historical Society will be Tuesday Aug. 3rd at 6 p.m. in the Sinclairville ballpark pavillion. This is the annual picnic meeting and all those attending should bring a dish of food to pass and their own drink and table setting. The group will eat at 6 p.m. sharp, so everyone should arrive a little early.

The program for the evening is Treasure Trove. Find something that you have that is old and of interest to others. Bring it with you and tell the group about your item. Anyone interested in local history is welcome to attend.

Church announces

chicken barbecue

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St., Fredonia, will be holding its annual drive-through chicken BBQ on Friday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. The chicken will be prepared by Weidner’s BBQ. Price is $12.

Bills Boosters meet on Sunday

The Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will hold a general meeting on Sunday July 25 at Point Gratiot starting at 1 p.m. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided after the meeting. Members are asked to bring there own refreshments and seating. In case of rain, the meeting will be held at the Dom Polski Club in Dunkirk.

Quilt show is Aug. 7 and 8

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold its annual quilt show at the museum in Sinclairville on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. In addition to local quilters, there will be a display of prints from the Biza Butler Collection from the Chicago Art Institute.

Anyone interested in displaying a quilt can call Betty Jean Ridout at 962-2309. There is no admission charge for the show. Everyone is Welcome.

Movie planned for tonight in Brocton

BROCTON — The Ahira Hall Memorial Library will host a Movie in the Commons today at dusk. “How to Train Your Dragon” will begin at dusk behind the library 37 W. Main St. Snacks will be provided. Bring camp chairs or blankets.
