Steelworkers plan family picnic Saturday
United Steelworkers Local 2693 will hold its Summer Family Picnic on Saturday beginning at noon at Point Gratiot, Hose 4 firemen’s grounds, in Dunkirk. Current, retired members and direct family are invited. There will be food and drink, bounce houses and games.
Library plans used book sale next month
SILVER CREEK — During the Grape Festival, stop in to the Anderson-Lee Library at 43 Main St., Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13 from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to look through the extensive collection of used books and puzzles for sale.
Book prices start at 50 cents. Jigsaw puzzles, movies, and audiobooks are $1 to $2. Don’t forget to come back on Saturday for the big bag sale.
Blood drive planned for Aug. 17
The First Baptist Church in Dunkirk is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is an urgent need for blood donations.

Land Bank meets Aug. 14
MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation will hold its Monthly Board Meeting Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. in the Gerace Office Building in Mayville. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting will be held in Room 331 on the third floor. .
The monthly meetings are conducted to discuss business associated with the land bank’s programs, acquisition and potential sale of property and other official business as required (agendas will be provided at the meetings). Adventures in Art coming for library
SINCLAIRVILLE — Adventures in Art with Brenda Nickerson at Sinclairville Free Library will be held on Mondays, Aug. 12 and 26 at 6 p.m. This free program is for ages 6 and up. Children will learn different art techniques (pencils, dry watercolor, flower pressing/leaf pounding, decoupage, etc.) to create a nature journal. All materials will be provided with thanks to the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and the Ross Grange for sponsoring this program.
