C.O.P.E. Walk to Remember

The Children of Opioid Parents and Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) will hold a Walk to Remember in memory of Justin Matteson and Elise Hupcej on Sept. 28. The event begins at the Harvest Chapel Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia, with a meeting time at 12:30 p.m. and a walk time of 1. It ends at the memory garden, 25 Church St., Fredonia. The walk is in honor of children who have lost a parent to opioid addictions by imprisonment, death or abandonment. The public’s sponsorship and support is greatly appreciated. Grief support group meetings scheduled

IRVING — The Four Corners United Methodist Church at Route 438 and Versailles Plank Road, is partnering with Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care to hold a series of grief support group meetings on the second Thursday of each month. The meetings are scheduled Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The purpose is to provide a healing environment through support groups, resources, tools and educational classes. Hunter Safety course slated

RANDOLPH — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Hunter Safety education class for the gun portion only on the following dates and time: Tuesday, Sept. 24 and Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. The class will be at the Randolph Rod & Gun Club, 4424 VanSlyke Road.

There is no charge for the class. Participants must attend both days of instruction to receive a certificate. It is preferable that participants be at least 12 years of age. If a parent wants an 11-year-old to take the class, the parent must attend and sit with the child on both days.

Class size will be limited to 35 students.Those attending must bring some form of identification such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.; and a pen or pencil. They should also bring snacks, dinner and something to drink. Dinner is available within 15 minutes of class location also.

Pre-registration is required. Students need to register at www.register-ed.com. Any questions, please contact the Sheriff’s Office or the Department of Environmental Conservation at 716 372-0645. Homework must be completed prior to the classes.
