Movie canceled Saturday at Opera House

The Fredonia Opera House announced Friday that due to a problem with its cinema projector, Saturday, Sept. 28’s screening of “The Fabulous Four” has been canceled. It is hopeful the movie will be on for Tuesday night.

Emerald City Dinner planned for Oct. 5

The community actors at Main Street Studios theater at 50 W. Main St., Fredonia, will be performing the classic “The Wizard of Oz,” from October 24 to 26, and Oct. 31 to Nov 2. In honor of this show, they will be hosting an Emerald City Dinner at the theater, on Saturday Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. The dinner menu will consist of “Over the Rainbow Fruit Kabobs,” “Dorothy’s Kansas Chicken,” “Ruby Slipper Roasted Red Potatoes,” “Scarecrow’s Strawsome Corn,” “Emerald City Green Salad,” “Melting Witch Brownies” and “Yellow Brick Lemon Bars.”.

During the dinner a Silent Auction Fundraiser will be held, with prizes donated from around the community. Following at 8, a fun game of Mixtape-BINGO will cap off the evening. Presale tickets are requested to be purchased through Saturday, Sept. 28, and are $30, and covers the dinner and BINGO. Auction bids will be the responsibility of the winning bidder, and must be paid upon completion of the auction and prior to receipt of the prize.

All proceeds from the event will be used to help cover the costs of the show production, costumes, sets, lights, rights, and a curtain, (just don’t pay any attention to the man behind it). Main Street Studios is a subsidiary of Play on Arts, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the community with creativity, promoting meaningful industry connections, and producing professional and accessible entertainment to downtown Fredonia.
